This curriculum has been created for home schooling parents and teachers in British Columbia. It uses books available in libraries across BC rather than textbooks. Students/parents choose which books to read. They then follow straightforward instructions and hands-on activities to complete BC Prescribed Learning Outcomes (PLOs). Parents and teachers will appreciate the everyday language (and lack of prep) these books offer!

This easy to use curriculum has 3 sections:
Section 1 provides student activities
Section 2 gives lists of books that can be used for each topic. Often only one book is needed from the list. If a student wants to learn more, there is a selection to choose from.
Section 3 gives details about each book.

"As a home schooling parent, I want to teach well. Instead of dry textbooks and endless worksheets, I want to give my children books written by someone passionate about their subject and able to bring it to life. At the same time, I have found several useful ideas in the PLOs. They can be a handy guide to learning, but--like you, I don't want to become a slave to them. I want them to work for me.

"This curriculum, which uses library books instead of textbooks to teach, is my answer. The hard work is done for you. It deciphers learning outcomes and puts them into everyday language, while incorporating stimulating and engaging activities. Best of all, the PLOs become a simple checklist rather than a driving force. Plus, reading material is full of feeling, as well as fact.

"As a result, I am no longer bogged down trying to meet prescribed objectives and can focus on reading books with my children on the couch more often, enjoying life and learning together."
