The original version of "How to Write Essays…"
was a collaboration between Dr. J. B. Webster Ph.D.
and Bryan Rempel, M.A.
which presented a handy reference guide for students and teachers familiar with Dr. Webster's "Blended Structure and Style in Composition" textbook. Dr. Webster's lifetime of work devoted to educating student writers spans over 50 years of instruction from the elementary grades through to the Ph.D. candidate level students in universities in Africa and across Canada, from UBC to Dalhousie in N.S. His protégés include outstanding instructors like Andrew Pudewa from "The Institute for Excellence in Writing" in the US, and Bev and Bryan Rempel who founded "Webster's Academy for Excellence in Writing" serving Canada, the US and abroad. Bryan, who teaches this course, is an Accomplished Instructor with "The Institute for Excellence in Writing" and a Master Teacher of "The Blended Structure and Style" writing program.
The first half of the course presents the A+.D.V.A.N.C.E. program of essay writing which follows the acronym by discussing the following:

The course will introduce a variety of Stylistic Techniques for essays designed to "keep the reader awake" including;

- Quoting and Footnoting
The concluding section of the course demonstrates the growth of an actual essay from the Basic Essay to the Extended, incorporating all the techniques taught in the course.
The final section presents Models or Samples of Introductions and Conclusions for the different types of essays required by various teachers and college or university faculties.
Checklists based on the entire course are offered at the end of the course for students to evaluate their own writing before presenting it to an instructor or marker.
